Why Merino Wool

Merino is not a marketing fiber. It is a working sheep’s coat. Fine crimp traps air, moves moisture, and resists odor without a chemical finish.

DuckworthJ uses Montana-grown merino because the Northern Rockies already trained the flock. You get loft and toughness in the same staple. Synthetics wick; they do not keep you warm when they are wet. Cotton holds water. Merino does the middle work — dry enough to keep moving, warm enough to stop.

Our blends (Comet, Vapor) add recycled polyester where a ranch day needs faster dry. Maverick stays 100% when next-to-skin softness is the whole point.

Sheep to Shelf

We don’t buy mill leftovers. Fiber, yarn, and finished layers stay under one ranch-born supply chain.
